Seizure Precautions to keep the baby safe

Seizure Precautions to keep the baby safe

You can follow simple seizure precautions to keep baby safe:

• Clothing and diaper changes are best done on the floor.
• Feed your baby in an infant seat or on the floor.
• Use a stroller to transfer your baby, even when just in the house.
• Use safety straps whenever you put your baby in an infant seat.
• Avoid giving a bath to your baby by yourself.  When you are alone, give sponge baths on the floor.
• Avoid carrying your baby up and down the stairs.  Keep supplies on each level of the house.
• Avoid sleep deprivation: Sleep when your baby sleeps and have somebody else take that middle of the night feeding!
• Take your medications as prescribed. If you are breastfeeding, take medications immediately after feeding to minimize the amount in your breast milk.
